SUNBLOCK*SUNBLOCK

SUNBLOCK is so very important for EVERYONE to use EVERYDAY!  There is a product made by RIT (you know, they make the stuff to dye clothing), well, it's called SUNGUARD and you can order it online.  The product is wonderful, you just wash your clothes in the washer with this SUNGUARD and it adds SUNBLOCK to your clothing.  It will NOT harm or change most clothing but I do suggest you test some items.

Your clothing is then able to protect you.  SUNGUARD will remain active in your clothing for up to approximately 30 regular washings before you need to wash them in the SUNGUARD again.

You know I am an avid believer in sunblock use everyday no matter what, especially since my BJ went through surgery for MELANOMA.  Do NOT be so cocky as to think this can never happen to you!!!!!!!!  A very dear friend of mine is dying from melanoma and she was diagnosed AFTER my son.

The colors were not affected and it is brilliant, comfortable full of sunblock!!!

I love all of you and want you to be cancer free to celebrate many many birthdays, so please take my advise.  And don't forget about my team in the Relay for Life coming up in June.

RELAY FOR LIFE 2010 KINGMAN ARIZONA

My Reason to Relay

TO FIND A CURE FOR CANCER & TO CELEBRATE MANY MORE BIRTHDAYS !!!!!

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is more than just an event to me. It is my personal opportunity to help save lives from cancer by supporting the American Cancer Society. It is even MORE personal for me because my oldest son, BJ, was diagnosed with melanoma four years ago, just after the birth of his second child. He and his wife, along with my husband and I were speechless. I was amazed at how calm and confident BJ was about the whole experience. He knew he had too much to live for and was not a quitter.

After a multitude of tests and examinations by Doctors at the MAYO Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ., he underwent surgery to remove the tumor and three lymph nodes from his groin. The results were more than we could have hoped for: surrounding tissue of the tumor was clean and the lymph nodes were also clean. He still has to be very cautious, annual check-ups, wear long sleeves and pants year round as well as SUNBLOCK. He and Bridgett now have three wonderful little boys and they watch them carefully. Our youngest son, Brian, 5 1/2 years younger than BJ, also has been checked and will continue to be checked regularly. He, too, is very cautious.

My dearest aunt, Rosie (known to all our kids as GRAM) was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2008, and after a lumpectomy and chemotherapy, she has thankfully been recently declared cancer free! There are so many others in my family, my future daughter-in-law's father and friends who have either survived or lost their battle with cancer. I would love to see a cure in my lifetime.

I also have many other relatives and friends stung by this horrible disease; some were blessed and survived, others are now in the arms of our Lord. For these reasons I am passionate about Relay for Life Kingman. My goal is to be able to walk that track on June 5th for those I love and those I don't even know. This is a promise I vow to keep! We need to celebrate many, many more birthdays :0)

Please support my efforts by making a donation to me or by joining my Relay For Life team, the Relay Wranglers. Together, we have the power to help create a world where cancer can no longer claim another year of anyone’s life.

CROCHETING-More than a Hobby-It's a way of Life!

Crocheting is the most comforting and soothing form of activity I know. I just melt into a world of my own when I have hook and yarn in hand. May sound crazy to some people, but crochet is a passion for me, it is a way to create something beautiful from pile of yarn (which in itself is beautiful!).

I can start with a chain, have something in mind and before I know it, something wonderful happens; it's as if something/one takes over and what I had in mind when I started, becomes something totally different of has a little tweak I never planned :0)  My muse (or inspiration) is the dolphin.

According to what I read in Native American Animal Totems, the dolphin is a brilliant animal who reminds us to take the time to breathe thoughtfully and purposefully and to be playful. I guess that's why I rarely follow a pattern without adding some new touches to it.

That's how I see life too.  I see and hear the rules, know I am supposed to follow them; yet I just can't help changing things up a bit. I believe in the spirit of the rules, not necessarily the letter of them. I believe common sense is a God-given gift that too many people forget about.  Please don't forget about this GREAT gift and remember to take the time to play and have fun every once and a while :0)

I am also a member of the greatest crochet team known as CreateCrochet Team. We are an etsy team, but we are more like family. We are from all over the world and it is so exciting to share ideas, stories, joys, hardships, comfort and encouragement for each other.

HAPPY EASTER!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!

This is my first Blog and could not have managed this without my future daughter-in-law, Shelby. This is so exciting and a new adventure.

I'm Marianne, married to John for 34 1/2 years, have 2 sons, BJ who is married to Bridgett and has 3 of the most adorable and smart little boys, and Brian who is engaged to Shelby and they will be married 15 January 2011.   I can't wait :0)

My favorite thing to do in the world is to spend time with my family and we are all going to be together for Easter this year.  I feel a family picture is coming on Easter !!   YIPEEEEEEE!

I also love to crochet, actually it's a passion!  I absolutely love to create new things.  I start  something and it just takes on a life of it's own. The dolphin is my creative inspiration and I believe she guides my hands.....cool huh?

I also have two poodles who are so special, Maxi, a white standard (the biggest type of poodle) and Snickers (a toy poodle).  They are family to us. For as big as Maxi is, she thinks she is a Lap Dog, Snickers, the little is actually the alpha dog,  it's actually quite funny. Don't know what I'd do without them.

I'll leave my first entry with this quote:
"Life is God's gift to you, what you do with it is your gift to God"
-Ecclesiastes-
